Layergloss, one of Europe’s 100 hottest startups, lands US$500K to accelerate international expansion

Layergloss raised US$500.000 from CE Tech Invest and Javest Investment Fund. The deal was closed last December, but is announced today Dutch business magazine Sprout reports. The fund is intended to accelerate the startup’s global expansion.

LayerGloss has built a tool that allows people without programming skills to build their own iOS applications for the iPhone or Ipad. In an earlier interview CEO and co-founder Phuong compared the startup’s ‘App Creator’ with the popular blogging platform WordPress. Just as creating a blog very easily on wordpress or its ilk you can build your app with App Creater on the fly.

CE Tech Invest is a small investment fund of angel investors Chang Ng and Erwin van der Veen. CE Tech Invest is a majority shareholder of Vitulum Ventures. This investment fund recently invested in another hot Dutch startup called Wercker.

Javest Investment Fund is the investment fund of angel investor Edo Jansen. Last year Javest Investment Fund invested €250.000 in Peerreach. Peerreach is an Amsterdam-based startup that provides an influence metric that measures your influence within different areas of expertise.

LayerGloss was one of the 10 winners of the program in 2012 and dubbed in the same year by Wired Magazine as ‘One of Europe’s hottest startups’.
