ARRsolutely amazing Pirate Summit 2013

Last Monday and Tuesday I was part of the Pirate Summit in Cologne. I did not know what to expect. I did not know anyone attending the event or being there before. But since the moment I met Till Ohrmann and Manuel Koelman I knew this would be a fun experience. These guys (and the whole crew) made an incredible job putting together people from all backgrounds but with a common purpose, celebrate entrepreneurship, meet new people and of course be as pirate as possible.

The event was held at Odonien, a very alternative location perfect for creativity, alternative and filled with pirate mood.  If you want to have an idea, check out this video

This event could not be better, besides incredible speakers, keynotes and attendees, there was a “Walk the plank” pitch competition:

Avuba: It will revolutionize your bank transactions

Bunkr: They aim to kill Powerpoint

Stilnest: They print in 3D design with exclusive design and high quality.

Ringpay: A payment app  to manage your money: you will be able to spend, deposit or withdraw money simply using your smartphone.

Storpool:  It is software that makes shared storage pool out of standard drives placed in standard servers.

Fedger: They have graphic analitycs technology

Locca! : New GPS tracker to keep track of all your things.

Fast Moving Imaging: with only 3.5 minutes capturing, 4 minutes processing you can crop your images with low cost and great quality.

Imagga:  They build advanced proprietary image recognition and image processing technologies

And the winner of the Toughest sea award was…. Storpool!

Congrats to Till, Manuel and the whole crew, what you did in Cologne was ARRsolutely amazing!

There were many Dutch people there enjoying the summit that otherwise I would never meet. At the end I had to sail home, but next year I’ll be there!
