At the CeBit Fair held in Hannover last week, EIT ICT Labs, an pan-European platform for bringing together research, education and innovation, launched it’s latest contest: “The Idea Challenge“.
The idea challenge is a European contest held in eight European cities where EIT ICT Labs are represented through local chapters: London, Eindhoven, Rennes, Trento, Berlin, Munich, Helsinki and Stockholm. You can check out the video here.
At the same time, each of these cities has a dedicated topic that needs to be addressed in the idea proposals. The topics cover the eight most important developments in ICT:
Health & Wellbeing
Cyber Security and Privacy
Internet of Things
Urban Life and Mobility
Smart Energy Systems.
This contest invites startups and entrepreneurial teams operating in one of the eight verticals to apply. Each city will pick three winners who get a chance of winning €40,000, €25,000 and €15,000. This contest is not just about the money. Next to this the winning teams will receive coaching and mentoring from business development experts, integration into future EIT activities and office space for six months.
“Great ideas put forward by great entrepreneurs drive economic growth and quality of life:” states Willem Jonker, CEO at EIT ICT Labs. “That is why we heavily invest in bringing these ideas and entrepreneurs to our ecosystem. Not only will our ecosystem benefit – we also have a lot to offer through our pan-European Business Development Acceleration that supports European startups and SMEs with global growth ambitions”.
Startups can submit their ideas until April 20th for the topics Health & Wellbeing, Smart Spaces, Cyber-Physical Systems, and Future Cloud. Ideas addressing Cyber Security and Privacy, Internet of Things, Urban Life and Mobility can be submitted starting September 1st till September 30th.
