Eindhoven-based e-commerce platform SendCloud has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from SanomaVentures.
The SendCloud platform offers online and offline retailers an easier and cost effective way to handle the process of customer shipments. It matches online stores with shipping service providers and automates different steps in the shipping process saving an average of three minutes per order. In addition to saving merchants time SendCloud helps them benefit money wise with the attractive shipment contracts it has made with various shipment service providers.
SendCloud was founded in 2012 by previous online store owners Rob van den Heuvel, Bas Smeulders and Sabi Tolou out of frustation with the cumbersome and time-consuming process of preparing packages for shipping.
Being one of the fastest growing startups of the Netherlands the Startupboootcamp alumn won last year the Deloitte Technology Fast50 Rising Star Award. The company has secured contracts with large shipping service providers such as PostNL, DHL and DPD and has attracted more than 1500 online merchants to its platform.
“In the professionalizing e-commerce industry, there is increased demand for specialized e-commerce optimization and integration services. The SendCloud team has developed a solution that offers true value to online merchants. With our expertise and network, we think we can be a good partner to further grow this platform, both in The Netherlands and in surrounding countries”, says Herman Kienhuis, investment director of SanomaVentures.
“Last year we have invested substantially in the development of our platform and we were able to attract a large number of new customers, says Rob van den Heuvel, CEO and co-founder of SendCloud. “With the investment of SanomaVentures we can continue to improve our service and also expand internationally. We can also benefit from the network of Sanoma in the e-commerce market.”
