Silicon Drinkabout, the successful after-work-meet-up for the startup community, is coming to Amsterdam. The first edition will take place at VondelCS this Friday, January 30. Drinkabout happens every Friday in 15 cities around the world. Berlin, Copenhagen, Dubai, Manchester and London are among the other cities that host the meet-up.
Gregor Noltes, former co-founder of Rockstart Answers, which is a program offered by Rockstart Accelerator, is happy to be a part of the organizing team. “Silicon Drinkabout is known to be the nicest meet-up for and by startups. The startup community in Amsterdam feels a bit divided sometimes, which is a shame. We want to cross any perceived divisions and create a place where the entire startup community can comfortably get together and network”, says Noltes.
The initiative has spread across the globe after it became a huge succes in London. 3beards, the organization behind the initiative, is delighted to be able to add Amsterdam to the list of cities that host Silicon Drinkabout. Joe Scarboro, co-founder 3beards says that they are really excited to have Amsterdam in the ‘Silicon Drinkabout Family.’ “A huge thanks to the team for all their hard work and enthusiasm for pulling together, strengthening and supporting the Dutch startup community. Congratulations and good luck!”
Local partners of Silicon Drinkabout are Adine Rooyackers (JAR content), Remco Janssen (Proudly Represents, Silicon Canals) and Jan-Jaap Verhoeve (Leapfunder, Startupbootcamp), the aforementioned Gregor Noltes and Marijn Mennes (Outliers) when Silicon Drinkabout Amsterdam merged with Amsterdam startup drinks.
Wework, the American co-workspace provider and hosting provider True are involved in Silicon Drinkabout Amsterdam as sponsors. The first edition of Silicon Drinkabout has almost reached full-capacity with over a 100 RSVP’s. The event is free to attend. It will take place weekly, with a larger sponsored meetup every month.
