Amsterdam-based adtech startup SocialAudience received an undisclosed amount from Dutch VC Axivate Capital.
SocialAudience, founded in 2015, connects online ad campaigns to CRM databases of premium publishers. This way clients can create ‘custom audiences’ for their campaigns on, for instance, Facebook. The CRM data will be edited towards an anonymous database.
With the money, founders Ruben Niet and Wouter Theijsmeijer will further develop the product, expand in The Netherlands and even look for an expansion abroad. Although the amount of funding was undisclosed, Niet told StartupJuncture that the amount is “almost similar” to previous investments from Axivate in startups Readmore and Undeveloped (approximately 400.000 euro).
Germany or Spain
“In the first months we want to focus on The Netherlands”, Niet said. “After that, we think about Germany or Spain. Germany is interesting in terms of volume, and success there means an easy rollout to other countries. Spain because we already have access to Spanish data via a partner publisher. But when we work together with for instance advertisers or another partner publisher, it could be any European country.”
Bas Rasker, partner at Axivate Capital, about the investment: “At SocialAudience team, vision, technology and plan-to-market were all well connected. That’s why we have a lot of confidence in this startup.”
