Private equity firm Holland Venture and the Brabant Development Agency (BOM) invest in Eindhoven University spin off CytoSMART Technologies. Financial details were undisclosed.
“To continue to innovate, we will have to further expand our operation and focus on product development”, Joffry Maltha, ceo of CytoSMART said in a statement.
Founded in 2012, CytoSMART develops devices for laboratories. One of the first products of the company is a digital microscope that can be used to continually monitor cell cultures in a CO2 incubator. Images are sent straight to the cloud, where they can then be examined.
“The current cell culture process is a time-consuming, error-sensitive process, and throughout the process is a black box for lab technicians”, the company says.
CytoSMART: real-time monitoring
CytoSMART’s device allows for real-time monitoring of the cell culture, making it possible to make adjustments throughout the process.
“The products and software tools of CytoSMART enable biomedical researchers to work quicker, more efficient and accurate”, Ewout Prins, managing partner of Holland Venture declared.
BOM invests in promising companies in the Brabant-region, with a maximum of 2.5 million euro per participation.
